Simply letting them know that you are currently looking for a job and the type of job you are looking for is enough to make them remember you whenever they run into a job opening that fits your description.

There are tons of jobs available out there that are not publicly listed on job boards, classifieds, websites, and other conventional stuff. Many companies find them an inefficient way to attract qualified candidates, so they usually make open jobs known to their employees and welcome referrals.
